ANMP ie acute neuromuscular paralysis - a clinical syndrome characterized by rapid onset muscle weakness which progresses to maximum severity within days to weeks ( < than 4 wks )

Also described under Acute non traumatic muscle weakness

Common neurological emergency

The weakness can happen due to interruption at any point along the motor pathway

ANMP carries significant morbidity and mortality as it can lead to bulbar palsy respiratory muscle weakness autonomic dysfunction

Worldwide Guillain-Barre syndrome is the most common cause of ANMP
