Management of Dyspepsia in primary care

Management of Dyspepsia in primary care

Dyspepsia management in Primary Care

Uninvestigated dyspepsia is a very common problem and several reports put the prevalence at more than 20 % globally. This has a considerable associated health impact and The lancet reports a study in 2018 which found that about 10 % of the adult population fulfils the criteria for Rome IV functional dyspepsia criteria.

The cause can vary from benign causes as such as functional dyspepsia to life-threatening causes as cancer ( oesophageal cancer has a very poor 5 yr survival rate )

Management of dyspepsia in primary care can be challenging and very often we are dealing with patients who despite optimum PPI therapy still continue to suffer. This talk would address the basics and complexities of dyspepsia management as part of the ” Learn from the Experts Webinar Series ” by A4Medicine.
